FAILURE IS THE PILLAR OF SUCCESS

FAILURE IS THE PILLAR OF SUCCESS

Failure is the pillar of success is a very popular proverb. It signifies that failure is to success what a pillar is to a house.

The way to success is not easy. In order to succeed one must struggle hard. It is seen that some people get disheartened after one or two failures in their attempt to accomplish a deed. But success does not come overnight. If we give up hope and cease to attempt doing a thing after some initial failures, we will never be able to achieve anything worthwhile in life. Experience, knowledge and such other things that are required for attaining success can be gained only by continuous efforts. As such, perseverance is the soul of success. This, however, does not mean that success cannot be attained in one or two attempts. The point that the present proverb tries to drive home is that failures are only natural and hence. If everyone were to give up all efforts after a failure or two humanity would still
have remained where it was millions of years ago.

Countless achievements, victories, discoveries, and inventions in different fields of human activity have been possible only because of the strict adherence to purpose and perseverance of some really heroic people, Columbus discovered America only after several failures. But had he lost hearts at these failures. the world would have come to know of America much later. We all know the story of Robert Bruce, the Scottish general, who had taken heart from a spider continuing to weave its net after repeated failures, and repulsed the English attack after failing to do so as many as seven times.

What is true of individuals is equally true of the collective life of the human race as well. Some of the most remarkable and wonderful scientific discoveries and inventions by some of the greatest scientists have been rendered possible by the failures of their predecessors. The, failure of one person in any field warms many others in that field against repeating past mistakes and, thus, helps them to make right decisions. It, thus, appears that a man's failures open his eyes and make him see things in their true light, showing him the road to success.

FAILURE , SUCCESS, PILLAR, MOTIVATION

However, students who repeatedly fail in their examinations as a result of their own negligence of studies should not try to defend their failures by quoting this proverb. Negligence of duties cannot be excused. A man can defend his failures only if he has acted with sincerity and devotion.
